THE 2022 Young Leaders Graduation took place at the Hamilton Golf Club on Tuesday where students presented their program experiences to a crowd of more than 50 people.
The students from Baimbridge College, Good Shepherd College, Monivae College and The Hamilton and Alexandra College ran the event and showcased their public speaking skills developed throughout the program in front of peers, families, supporting school staff, mentors, sponsors, and community members.
This was the second year of the Young Leaders program in the Southern Grampians, which was based upon the highly recognised Future Leaders program that has been running in the Glenelg Shire since 2005.
The collaborative industry mentoring program was coordinated by the Glenelg and Southern Grampians Local Learning and Employment Network (GSGLLEN) in partnership with a range of school, industry, and community partners.
The program offered an opportunity for students to explore local industries and related career paths and gain a range of skills and knowledge to help support them in their leadership journey.
GSGLLEN executive officer, Anne Murphy said the program provided fantastic opportunities for local students and extended her thanks to everyone involved.
“Thanks again to our community and industry partners who have contributed in providing opportunities for our developing leaders in the Young Leaders program,” she said.
“Through your support, students are able to build work skills, clarify their future career aspirations and build networks throughout the community.
“This will hold them in good stead in their future wherever life may take them.”
All involved in the 2022 Young Leaders program have experienced significant growth throughout the year, with the following students graduating earlier this week - Ella Jackson, Aliesha Crane, Jordi Mitchell, Hamish Murrihy, Charlie Smith, Lauren Borgmeyer, Charlotte Cook, Klay Collins, Jasmine McIntyre, Jasmine Young, Lachlan Rees, Grace Macpherson, Hayley Spence, Arbella Little, and Will Merrin.
