Ten years for Portland Bupa

PORTLAND Bupa is opening their doors for locals to celebrate ten years with them.

That’s right, Portland’s Bupa has been standing for ten years now delivering smiles and providing comfort to all its residents, and they are celebrating with a bang on Saturday, May 20.

As for the moment there is an un-occupied residential wing of the building where the Bupa team will be holding most the provided entertainment and market stalls, as well as outdoors.

There will be different food options, arts and crafts displayed by residents, memories captured in photos to see, and there will be a tour of the empty resident’s facility.

Local schools have been invited to take on a colouring in competition, with the entries to be displayed on the open day.

Portland Bupa general manager Jodie Hill said she looks forward to seeing the residents participate in the celebration and would even love to see the families of residents attend.

“I think they're excited (residents), some of them are getting involved in putting things together for market stalls and the craft displays,” she said.

“This Bupa has been here for 10 years and some of our residents have been here for that whole time.

“This is their home, we just work here and it's really lovely to be part of a community like this.

“If there's anybody out there who's thinking about having a career in aged care, this is a great chance to come and have a bit of a look and talk to some people about that.

“We're always interested in people who might be interested in a future in aged care.

“You can come and have a look and ask some questions.”

Other entertainment will be a mobile zoo for kids to wonder at and a band performing in the carpark.

Parking will be extended out to the South Portland Recreational Hall for attendees, as half the Bupa carpark will be occupied by the celebrations.

A formal acknowledgement and speeches will be made at the beginning of the opening at 10am, including a ten-year birthday cake to top of the celebration.

Entertainment will come to a close at 2pm.
