ROADMAP TO REOPEN

REGIONAL Victoria may see restrictions ease faster than metropolitan Melbourne, as premier, Daniel Andrews confirmed two separate roadmaps out of lockdown would be announced on Sunday.

Mr Andrews said a dedicated regional roadmap would provide greater certainty to communities, tourism operators and businesses.

“Given the low number of cases in regional Victoria and the fact that our strategy there has been very successful, only due to the work that each and every country Victorian is doing, we can announce that on Sunday we'll speak about two roadmaps towards opening up – one for metropolitan Melbourne, and a second road map that may have different component parts for regional Victoria,” he said.

Mr Andrews said the roadmap would contain “a series of stages” and not include definitive dates or commitments. “(The roadmap) will be based on case numbers, that will based on science, evidence and the best of medical advice available,” he said.
