BAIL REFUSED

A FORMER Hamilton man charged with assaulting a police officer has lost his bid to be released on bail.

Todd Templeton, 26, now of Albion in Melbourne’s west, made a self-represented bail application in the Hamilton Magistrates Court on Wednesday after being charged with assaulting a police officer on Tuesday night.

He was refused bail, with magistrate, Mark Stratmann saying there were “unacceptable risks” Mr Templeton could commit further offences if released on bail.

He was instead remanded in custody to reappear in court on September 30.

Hamilton Police criminal investigation unit detective sergeant, Mark James told the court a George Street resident called police about 9.40pm Tuesday when Mr Templeton allegedly attempted to enter her home.
