Expressions of interest sought for local cadet unit

THE Australian Army Cadets is searching for expressions of interest from children between the ages of 13 and 17 for a new community-based unit in Hamilton.

The program will not be school affiliated and open to anyone.

The plan is for the newly founded unit to parade once a week after school at a venue yet to be determined, while also attending camps around the state, and activities at Puckapunyal and interstate.

The proposed Hamilton unit will initially be a sub-unit of the 314 Warrnambool Australian Army Cadets, which is looking to expand its numbers and give the wider community and local kids the experience and benefits of being part of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Youth Training Organisation.

Locally lieutenant (ACC), Michael Byrne said the unit was about providing kids with opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise experience.
