LOCAL hairdresser, Erika Murphy jokingly describes herself as a “frequent flyer” at the Hamilton Base Hospital’s emergency department (ED).
After several trips to ED in recent years with her kids, Kaeden, Aliera and Jordee, she is calling for a much-needed upgrade.
“I joked with someone recently that they will need to name a wing after us at the hospital,” she said.
“We’ve had a couple of broken arms and a broken leg from playground accidents and some medication issues with Aliera, that meant we were visiting almost fortnightly at one stage.”
Aliera, who suffers complex epilepsy, first presented to the Hamilton ED at 11 months old and has been in and out of hospital, both here and in Melbourne, ever since.
