HEFTY fines may be issued to businesses in regional Victoria if they fail to check their customers’ identification from today.
Premier, Daniel Andrews said the close to $10,000 fine will only be issued to businesses if they “consciously fail” to check if their customers were from metropolitan Melbourne.
He said the new rule would help combat COVID-19 and said checks could be achieved by asking customers to show their driver’s licence or Keypass ID.
