WHILE plenty of 2020 events have been cancelled, the annual Casterton Christmas Shopping Spree is still going ahead – with a difference.
Christmas is just nine weeks away, so local businesses are banding together for a ‘Xmas Shopping Frenzy’ on Friday, November 6, in a big event of late-night shopping.
“We have to thank the Casterton-Sandford netballers for co-ordinating the shopping spree over the past few years; it has been a popular, well-supported event where residents have made good use of the opportunity to shop local for Christmas,” 2020 frenzy co-ordinator, Vikki O’Brien said.
“Under pandemic restrictions, we can’t send the big groups of people into shops in the tradition of the shopping spree, but local traders will be open from 6pm until 8.30pm that evening, giving everyone the opportunity to get home from work and school, get themselves or the kids organised and head out for the evening.
“There will be no tickets sold, the whole town is invited to head downtown and get the Christmas shopping done.”
