Overflowing bins not a shire issue

A NUMBER of local shoppers expressed their frustration to The Spectator this week after visiting Hamilton’s Coles Supermarket and noticing overflowing rubbish and recycling bins.

One caller described the overflowing bins - placed at each store entrance and off Brown Street - as a “disgrace”, saying the “eye sore” needed to be addressed.

The local said he had spoken to Coles management and the shire about the issue but had received little clarity on whose responsibility it was to maintain the area and bins.

The Spectator contacted the Southern Grampians Shire with a spokesperson explaining management of the area was not its responsibility.
