Nareeb Nareeb makes it two in a row at fleece show

HAMILTON and District Legacy’s 69th Annual Fleece Show looked a little different to usual this year, but there was strong competition to take out the title of the region’s best fleece.

Despite the uncertainty around whether the show would go ahead due to COVID-19 restrictions, around 190 fleeces were donated by wool growers across the Western District.

For the second year in a row, Nareeb Nareeb took out the champion fleece award on Thursday.

Judges, Elders Hamilton’s David White and Arcadian Wool’s Gary Simpson said the 15-kilogram merino fleece “has great character, is very sound, along with a high wool cut for its type” and received a score of 95.
