A BESSIEBELLE property has been destroyed by fire in the early hours of Friday morning.

CFA commander, David Ferguson said fire crews were alerted to the blaze at a property on Woolsthorpe-Heywood Road about 2am and found the property “fully involved in fire” when they arrived.

He said around 30 firefighters from local brigades, with support from Port Fairy, Heywood and the Warrnambool FRV brigade, were on the scene and fought the fire for around 45 minutes, but were unable to save the property, which was “pretty much completely destroyed”.

The occupant of the property was not home at the time of the fire.
