Mullagh championship tradition continues

THE arrival of the Johnny Mullagh Medal and staging of the first Mullagh Juniors Cup kicked off a massive day of celebration for Harrow’s 2021 Mullagh Championship Cup weekend.

Celebrating the First XI cricket team which toured England in 1868 and its star player, Johnny Mullagh (Unaarrimin), the tribute cricket match has been played at Harrow, Mullagh’s place of birth and final rest, for more than two decades.

This year, the celebrations held special significance, with the minting and presentation of the first Mullagh Medal at the MCG for the 2020 Boxing Day Test and Mullagh’s induction into the Australia Cricket Hall of Fame in December.
