McArthur calls for rethink on road safety funding

WESTERN Victoria MP, Bev McArthur believes the State Government needs to have a better look at where it has dedicated its road safety funding.

Mrs McArthur welcomed the news that the State Government would receive $56 million for road safety projects from the Federal Government, with $49 million of it to be spent in regional Victoria, but she said the State Government had its priorities wrong with how the funding was allocated.

She would rather see funding used to fill potholes, fix uneven surfaces and general road maintenance on regional roads, rather than installing wire rope barriers.
