Eastern barred bandicoots back from extinction

THE eastern barred bandicoot has been a part of an Australian first as it has been its species was reclassified from extinct in the wild through a successful re-introduction program.

The eastern barred bandicoot is often associated with the Hamilton region as it was one of the nocturnal species’ last wild habitats back in 1989.
