Highway Patrol nabs one impaired driver over long weekend

ROAD behaviour was positive across the weekend in the Southern Grampians, with the Hamilton Highway Patrol unit nabbing just one impaired driver through its long weekend road safety operation.

Across the state, Victoria Police ran Operation Scoreboard across the AFL Grand Final long weekend, with a focus on tackling the five major causes of road trauma – speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, fatigue and not wearing seatbelts.

Hamilton Highway Patrol sergeant, Darren Smart said the local unit were particularly on the lookout out for speeders and impaired drivers across the weekend.
