Postal worker strike today

POSTAL and freight services are set to be impacted by a 24-hour strike today as three major logistics companies grapple with pressure from the Transport Workers Union (TWU) to agree with demands about pay and job security.

The TWU has notified StarTrack, FedEx and BevChain of strike action this Thursday if the companies fail to present a fair agreement offer, while Linfox, Global Express, ACFS and Ceva workers have received in-principle agreements.

The TWU said in a statement that last week they achieved significant movement on job security protections at StarTrack, FedEx and BevChain, but after six months of negotiations, in-principle agreements have still not been reached, sparking protected industrial action today.
