TUESDAY’s division one pennant made the season halfway mark and had one home side winner and one away victors.
Two 56’s one 60 and one 64 were the winning scores.
Casterton at home to Grangeburn put up a pretty good fight, but the visitors took 14 points in the win.
Nancy Sharam 14 to Robyn Thomassen 20, Berniece Sullivan 16 to Alison East 20, and Mary Anne Allen got two points by defeating Jan Hicks, 26 to 24, leading to a 56-60 overall result.
In the other game, Hamilton squeezed in by four against Portland.
A draw between the two Heathers, McIntyre and Burgess, with 20-20.
Jenny Pole 13 to Kerrie Alexander 21, and Geraldine McDonald scored 26 to Shirley Rogers 14.
Memorial had the bye.
The ladder after many checks is Portland 49, Grangeburn 40, Memorial 36, Hamilton 29 and Casterton with six points.
Division two
WHOOPEE an eight to the Penshurst crew, James Thomson, Don Addinsall, Jenni Kinneally and Ann Rentsch, and that was included in a 35-9 win over Balmoral’s Trish Brody, and I believe she did have helpers.
Brenda Uebergang and Chick Trotman played out a 20 all draw, the totals were 55 to 29.
Coleraine doubled Hamilton’s score at home.
Bev Fry defeated Miriam Tonissen, 10 to 15, while Chris Rigby and offsiders got the second biggest tally in division two with 32 to Judy Addinsall’s 11, leading to a 52-26 result.
The ladder reads Macarthur 60, Penshurst 55, Balmoral 54, Coleraine 44, Portland 33, Hamilton 28 and Memorial 12.
Division three
CASTERTON was at home to the visiting Dartmoor and unfortunately for Casterton, Dartmoor continued on its winning ways.
With a two-rink win, the side now has 60 out of a possible 70 premiership points.
Helen Lucas played Kaye Lanyon and the result was 10 to 27.
Teresa Sealey and Elaine Jones had the close one at 20-21.
Portland doubled Macarthur’s score with 50 to 25.
Carmel McKenzie 20 to Di Cowland 15 and Margaret Milich 30 to Carol Uebergang 10.
Grangeburn Blue 27 to Grangeburn Red 48 and the result came about from Sandra Moore 18 to Lesley Moller 15 and Bev Casey nine to Nettie Ryan 33, which was the high score of division three.
The ladder is Dartmoor 64, Portland 54, Macarthur 35, Casterton 28, Grangeburn Red 25 and Grangeburn Blue with four.
Weekend Pennant
SATURDAY games started and Memorial cleared out from the rest of the division one sides with another win.
In another three team wins, the Memorial Red side finished the third round on 47 of a possible 48 points.
This time it was the Memorial Blue side that Red defeated, by a whopping 42 shots.
Blue being the home side is listed first; Ted Leahy nine lost to Ken Evans 19, Steve Turner 13 lost to John Wallis 33, in the highest score of division one, and Gerry Watt 13 lost to Des Pitts 25.
Overall, it led to a 35-77 loss.
While along the coast we now report on the Portland-Hamilton game.
Would you believe another 77 to the Portland side and Hamilton reached 44.
John Rappard 19 defeated Norm Pech 11, Bob Bowden scored the second highest of the round with 32 to Bill Satchell 15 and Peter Cottier defeated Richard Martin 28 to 18.
Grangeburn played Heywood and the ‘burners won this game with a high score on one rink.
Robyn Thomassen with 15 lost to Mick Swan 19, Phil Allen 15 similarly to Rick Angelino 15, 17. Parto saved the day with a 25 to 12 score against Lance Price.
The final game was between Balmoral and Penshurst and again the home side took the win to the after game relax place.
Tom Simons 18 lost to David Cook 20, Peter Merryfull 30 defeated Mick Ross 19 and Neville Trotman 22 defeated Trevor Landwehr 14.
The ladder reads Memorial Red 47, Grangeburn 29, Balmoral 28, Portland 21, Penshurst 18, Heywood 18, Hamilton 17 and Memorial Blue 14.
Division two
BOTH games were played with no Covid interference and 77 was the highest side score and 31 the highest team score.
Macarthur played host to the Hamilton side and in a close game Macarthur won on two rinks but that bloomin’ single rink score saw the points go to Hamilton.
Clifton Tonissen and Maurice Jolly battled out to a one shotter to Tonnissen’s favour, 16-15.
Jean Schroeder recalled some Branxholme form to defeat former club member, Trevor Schultz, 22-18.
Ken Handreck was on the losing end of a 14-shot loss to John Forsyth, who managed 27.
The final scores were Macarthur 51 to Hamilton 60.
Casterton was at home to Portland and the visitors had a few problems getting line and length right.
Styx Russell 26 to Alan Warburton 16. Neil Shannon came across Richard Speers in form and was defeated 20 to 24. Andy Alderton put a stop to the Tom Alexander high scores with a 31 to 16 win.

Division three
THE highest of all division scores was 86 and 44 the highest team score as well.
Hamilton Gold 76 defeated Portland 40.
Ray Fary 29 defeated Tom Beauglehole 16, Peter Clapham 22 to Reg Alexander 13 and Denis Gay 25 accounted for Les Baker 11.
Memorial had a high score of 84 in defeating Coleraine 46.
Ronnie Robinson 32 to Steve Cooper 17, Bert Roos 26 defeated A. McIntosh 13, Peter Fasoli 26 beat Vern Spencer 16.
Grangeburn 43 lost Hamilton Green 86.
John Colcott 10 lost Geoff Woods with John and Geraldine McDonald and Edwin Maclean who recorded 44. Jan Hicks 16 lost to Max Spiller 27, Alison East 17 defeated Cliff Brinkman 15.
The ladder as it stands is Memorial 44, Hamilton Green 42, Hamilton Gold 32, Portland 14, Grangeburn six and Coleraine six.
Division four section one
PENSHURST 41 defeated Hamilton Green 32 after Denis Olle 21defeated Neville Blackmore 19, Bret Linke 20 defeated Norn Schwarz 13.
Macarthur 37 lost to Dartmoor 52.
C. Dunn 18 lost to Peter Holmes 19; Roger Moodie 19 lost to Ross Kerr 33.
Heywood 53 defeated Casterton 35.
Rob Hamblin 32 accounted for Mary Anne Allen 17, while Thelma Hoggan 21 defeated Berniece Sullivan 18.
Dartmoor tops the ladder ahead of Penshurst 28, Hamilton Green 27, Macarthur 16, Heywood 14 and Casterton with one.
Division four section two
HAMILTON Gold 57 defeated Coleraine 36 after Kevin Buck 34 defeated R Salamon 16, Barry Dowling 23 defeated Arthur Guy 20.
Grangeburn 43 defeated Dunkeld 35.
Peter Moore 21 lost to Gary Wall 23, G. Harris 22 defeated Geoff Montgomery 12.
Balmoral had the bye.
The ladder reads Balmoral 40, Hamilton Gold 28, Grangeburn 26, Dunkeld 16 and Coleraine 15.
Other news
SUNDAY at Memorial the men’s section singles were played to the last two.
There were 17 entries, and the two finalists are Mick Swan and Richard Martin.
The game will be played at Macarthur on Sunday, starting at 1.15pm with the roll-up.
Monday was the sectional play in the women’s section pairs.
These games were played at Memorial and there were 10 entries, but no results were available to publish.
The grapevine said Robyn Thomassen and partner won their section.
The next championships to be played are the women’s and men’s sixty and over singles next week.
Saturday and the next Tuesday will be the last pennant games before Christmas.
