Music festival in Hamilton

This weekend, Hamilton Racecourse will become the backdrop for the music and arts festival, Tabula Rasa 2020 (TR2020), as hordes of New Year's Eve revelers make their way into town for the three-day festival.

TR2020 kicks off today with over 2000 people expected to set up camp at the racecourse before Friday's New Year's Eve celebrations.

Southern Grampians Shire Council mayor, Bruach Colliton said the event was a significant opportunity for the Shire.

“We are hoping it will be a great success,” he said.

“Hopefully it leads to future festivals in the region, providing economic stimulus for local business, accommodation providers and hospitality.

“It is also a great way to showcase our region, our stunning natural landscapes and our event facilities.”

Run by Melbourne based company, Plasma House Studios, the artists initiative event features eclectic, beat-driven dance music, and boasts a line-up of Melbourne creatives, including musical artists, Solar Suite, Kia Animalia, and Sophie McAlister.

Local Boandik Gunditjmara,Elder and singer-songwriter, Uncle Johnny Lovett will perform for 45 minutes and also be performing a Welcome to Country ceremony.

Festival goers will camp at the racecourse, with camping facilities fully set up with a strict clean-up plan to care for the land and environment.

The lock-in festival comes with 100 crew members, including qualified event organisers, fire services, medical staff, security, and alcohol testing.
