HEYWOOD residents will be waiting until the new year to enjoy the town’s pool, after a “mass shortage” of lifeguards has left the facility in limbo.
In a post on the pool’s Facebook page last week, Belgravia Leisure said there had only been three participants willing to undertake training required to be a lifeguard at the pool, but it needed at least 10 to run the course.
This comes as the pool did not open on its traditional date of December 1, leading to confusion and frustration among the community.
Belgravia Leisure revealed this week the pool would not open until at least mid-January due to the shortage, with a lifeguard course not available until then due to the holiday period.
