PORT Fairy’s main centre will be abuzz with a reinvigorated street fair over the Labour Day long weekend in mid-March.
The Port Fairy and Regional Tourism Association has planned a full program of events over the weekend, including market stalls, street food, live music, and a busking competition for young performers.
Port Fairy Tourism’s Ashley King said the street fair would ensure there was something for everyone.
“We are really trying to bring some fun and colour back into the streets in an effort to help our local traders who have done it tough over the past couple of years,” Mr King said.
“The aim is to make sure there is something to bring people into the streets over the weekend and to encourage people who may not have a ticket for the Port Fairy Folk Festival to still come along and enjoy the fun.
“To compliment the free live music on Fiddlers Green put on by the Port Fairy Folk Festival, we’ve got a huge program planned across the whole long weekend, from Friday to Monday, from silent walking discos tour to an octopuses garden, high quality market stalls, delicious food, kids craft activities, a live busking competition and even a station to make a TikTok video – there will be something on offer for everyone.”
Moyne Shire Council and the Port Fairy Folk Festival have thrown their support behind Port Fairy Tourism’s street fair initiative.
Mr King said the full program would be released in the coming weeks.
“We hope that people will make the trip across and soak up the fantastic atmosphere in Port Fairy over the March long weekend.”
