A WOMAN was airlifted to The Royal Melbourne Hospital for treatment after a single car crash in Hawkesdale on Thursday morning.
Koroit Police sergeant, Pat Day said that at 9.39am on Thursday, February 17, police were notified of a single car crash on Penshurst-Warrnambool Road, 200 metres south of Kings Road in Hawkesdale.
Sgt Day said the 51-year-old woman had lost control of her vehicle and travelled about 300 metres off the road before her car hit a “raised-up driveway” and rolled on its side.
“The lady lost control of her car and rolled her vehicle onto the side of the road where it came to rest at the front of a fence, toward a house,” Mr Day said.
“She was initially trapped in the vehicle but was able to be freed by a passer-by.
“She was treated by ambulance and was air lifted to The Royal Melbourne Hospital for treatment for her injuries.”
Sergeant Day said the female sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was the sole occupant of the vehicle with no other vehicles involved in the accident.
Hawkesdale CFA deputy group officer, Steve Stewart said emergency services quickly attended the scene, including CFA, police, SES, and ambulance services.
“There were four CFA appliances, three ambulance vehicles, one police car, and three SES vehicles,” he said.
“There were CFA members from Warrong and Willatook.”
Sgt Day said police were currently investigating the cause of the accident.
