New out of school care

A NEW out of school service had been introduced to Bolwarra, providing an exciting place for students to wind down and socialise, while parents are busy with otherwise.

Located at Bolwarra Primary School, an out of school service ran through the Melbourne company Big Childcare is aimed at prep foundation to grade 6,

Manager of Bolwarra’s out of school care, Jake Davies, said Bolwarra Primary School is lucky to be one of the schools to be accepted.

“It started off slow the first couple of weeks, obviously, with Bolwarra being a smaller school,” he said.

“It's bringing the kids out and integrating the Bolwarra students with the kids from other schools, which has been really positive, I would say over the last two weeks.”

Children engage in physical and creative activities prepared for them, still learning and expanding their imagination, but are not given any schoolwork.

“There'll be a fruit platter on arrival for the students and then there’s also a seasonal menu that changes,” Mr Davies said.

“There is a criteria and guidelines that we need to follow and the children are still to be learning certain things, but obviously it’s not a school setting, so we don’t do schoolwork.

“If kids want to come along because they think it's going to be fun, that’s okay, but it's predominantly aimed at parents who need those out of hours outside of school care.”

Those wishing to enrol their child can contact Mr Davies through 0484 110 571 or Bolwarra@vicchildcare.com.
