Grange Brigade's Good Friday appeal

THE Grange Rural Fire Brigade assist with callouts to road accidents, and grass, forest and house fires, but members have recently been busy with the annual collection for The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Good Friday Appeal.

The 91st Good Friday Appeal is on Friday, April 15, but the Grange Brigade volunteers have already started their annual door knock and tin rattling to raise money for the RCH.

Volunteers, supporters and donors are the main contributors to the Good Friday Appeal every year, which raises funds to enable the Melbourne hospital to provide world class care to children.

The Grange Rural Fire Brigade is specifically responsible for an area of 280 households in and around the Hamilton township and relies 100 per cent on volunteers to help in situations where risks are posed to life and/or property.

Volunteers are also needed for non-operational activities such as fundraising, marketing, community engagement and education. All roles are important and help to keep the community safe.

Captain, Peter Foley said more volunteers were needed to join the local brigade.

“It is a great family brigade we have, and all new members are supported very well in their development,” he said.

“The brigade has a long history in the Hamilton area and with our local area expanding all the time, we are looking for new volunteers to grow our brigade to meet with current expectations of the CFA”.

Anyone interested in joining the brigade is strongly encouraged to get in touch with Captain Peter Foley via the Grange Rural Fire Brigade’s Facebook page.
