Bahgallah wartime heritage preserved

THE sacrifice and service of veterans in Bahgallah and Terang will be commemorated and recognised with the 2nd Battalion the Royal Australian Regiment Association Inc and Bahgallah Memorial Hall Inc sharing in part of the latest $1.5 million Saluting their Service Grants.

Wannon MP, Dan Tehan said the commemorative projects from the 2nd Battalion the Royal Australian Regiment Association Inc and Bahgallah Memorial Hall Inc would continue the tradition of remembrance and he looked forward to seeing the finished work.

The Bahgallah Memorial Hall Incorporated receives $3080 to commission a new Honour Board and plaque dedicated to locals who served in the Second World War and enhance the memorabilia display at the Bahgallah Memorial Hall.

“I am extraordinarily proud of the history of service in Wannon and these two projects are a wonderful way for us to commemorate and reflect on the sacrifice of all those who have served from our communities,” Mr Tehan said.

“These projects will provide a fitting and respectful way to commemorate the history of service.”

Saluting Their Service is a national grants program and applications for the next round are now open.
