THE Spectator will host a Federal Forum for Wannon next month before Australians head to the polls for the 2022 federal election on May 21.
From 7pm on Monday, May 9 at Monivae College’s Performing Arts Centre, local voters will have the opportunity to hear from candidates and ask questions.
On the night, attendees can expect opening statements from each candidate, a 60-minute Q&A session where the audience will be able to directly ask where the candidates stand on issues that matter to the community, then followed by closing statements from each candidate.
Confirmed candidates for the night include: The Australian Greens’ Hilary McAllister, Independent Alex Dyson, United Australia Party’s Craige Kensen, Labor’s Gilbert Wilson, Liberal Democrats’ Amanda Mead, and Independent Graham Garner.
The Spec is waiting to confirm incumbent, Dan Tehan, and Pauline Hanson’s One Nation candidate Ronnie Graham.
The Spectator’s general manager, Greg Stevens said the candidates should be congratulated for giving up their time, and it was important people take this opportunity to listen to what the candidates’ plans were moving forward.
“We are pleased to present this platform,” he said.
“We think it’s important from a local perspective to hear from the candidates, and I’m sure they’ve got plenty to offer.
“From a local point of view, it is important that we concentrate on our area and that the public get a chance to hear from these people, so we can come up with an informed and balanced opinion before we go to the polls.”
