EMMA Watkins, better known as the recently retired yellow wiggle, has been the talk of the town this week, as news spread of her Tyrendarra wedding on Sunday.
Though the couple live in Sydney, the groom, Oliver Brian, grew up in Woodford and has lots of family in the South West, and Longmeadow Estate was chosen so his elderly grandfather would be able to attend.
The wedding ceremony was held outside in the gardens of the venue, with 116 guests.
For Portland Party Hire owner Lisa Sealey, it has been a tough two and a half months, having to keep the celebrity event secret.
“We signed a non disclosure agreement when they asked us to do the wedding, since she’s very well known and they wanted to keep it pretty quiet.”
“They were lovely, a really nice couple and were really helpful with everything.”
Ms Sealey says they provided the marquees, tables, outdoor furniture, toilets and cool rooms for the wedding and met the whole family who were there to help out in the days leading up to the event.
She was not expecting their new ‘Hampton style’ marquees and handmade recycled timber trestle tables to end up in Vogue magazine, which ran an exclusive interview with the couple on their website on Monday, but says at the moment they are so busy they do not need the extra advertising.
“Over this year and last year when we have been able to have events, we’ve had bookings for seven weddings, and there’s a lot more coming up on the other side of winter,” she said.
“That has just been with word of mouth and our social media.”
“A lot of people have been waiting through COVID to be able to have a proper wedding, so it is pretty busy at the moment.”
