Former local to host TV election night coverage

FORMER Hamilton woman, Rachelle Miller, who previously worked as media officer for Wannon MP, Dan Tehan between the years 2010 and around 2015, has landed a gig to commentate on Channel 10’s election night panel.

Ms Miller announced the appointment in a tweet and stated that she had worked on three previous election campaigns.

“It will be great to share some insights with you all,” she tweeted.

Ms Miller left Hamilton to take up a role at parliament House in Canberra as assistant media adviser to then attorney general, George Brandis, before taking a position with Education minister, Alan Tudge.

In November 2019, Ms Miller revealed on the ABC’s Four Corners program that she had an extra marital affair with Mr Tudge during 2017, however subsequently lodged a claim with the Department of Finance that she had endured abuse, bullying, and belittling when working for him.

When the affair ended, Ms Miller was transferred to the office of Michaelia Cash for a matter of only a few months before resigning in 2018 and receiving what she referred to as a “fake redundancy”.

Ms Miller’s claim is allegedly against both ministers Tudge and Cash, however, it has also been reported that Ms Miller is negotiating to receive a $500,000 payout for an alleged historical sexual assault by a current member of parliament, in 2010.

Ms Miller’s allegations against Mr Tudge have been the subject of an independent inquiry by Dr Vivienne Thom, who stated that as Miller refused to participate in the inquiry, Dr Thom was limited in her scope, and found that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate Ms Miller’s claims.

Members of Mr Tudge’s staff participated in the inquiry and one stated that Ms Miller was “obsessed” with the minister.
