AFTER six weeks of political campaigning, candidate forums, debates, and a few gotcha moments - the day has finally come - the 2022 Federal Election is here.
While some people may have already voted via post or through pre-polling, most will head to their local polling place today to cast their vote and grab a democracy sausage on their way out.
Below is a list of local polling places and all are open from 8am-6pm today.
For voters who have tested positive for COVID-19 after 6pm on Tuesday, May 17 – secure telephone voting will be made available, however telephone voting is an emergency service for those who cannot attend a polling booth or lodge a postal vote.
Voters in this position will have to provide evidence of a positive RAT or PCR test, with registrations open until 4pm today.
If you are COVID-19 positive and need to register, visit aec.gov.au/election/covid19-affected.htm, for further information on polling places go to aec.gov.au/Voting/polling.htm.
Happy election day Hamilton!
