THE next time you take a stroll along the Grange Burn, be sure to keep an eye out for the new picnic table by the Portland Road carpark.
The hammers have been swinging and sandpaper sanding at the very busy Hamilton Men’s Shed over the last month as they worked to bring this project to life.
The old picnic table, donated to the Men’s Shed from Council’s Hamilton Depot, has been put together with recycled wood from a tree in the Hamilton Botanic Gardens, as well as recycled wood from an old wool shed in the region.
Hamilton Men’s Shed secretary, James McCallum, said the original condition was quite “dilapidated” and required “a lot of milling of the timber”.
“They wanted it a bit more modern, so that’s what we came up with,” he said.
“Hopefully we’ll have some more work with them.”
