WINTER has arrived before autumn officially ends today, as an Antarctic blast of cold weather sets into the south-west for the week.

With several millimetres of rain, high winds gusting up to 50 kilometres per hour and a maximum of only nine degrees forecast for Hamilton today, anyone caught outdoors for any length of time will need to be prepared for it.
