MUSIC lovers will not want to miss ARIA-nominated Melbourne pianists, Luke Howard and Nat Bartsch performing their new duo show, ‘Peaceful Piano’ at Hamilton Performing Arts Centre this Saturday.
Mr Howard and Ms Bartsch are touring their performance around regional Victoria this winter, with Hamilton being one stop on their list of destinations.
After being collaborators for many years and being drawn to each other for their similar aesthetic and musical values, this tour will mark the first time that Mr Howard and Ms Bartsch will perform music together.
Both Mr Howard and Ms Bartsch began writing and composing in the jazz scene in Melbourne but have since evolved their creative practice to work predominately in the neoclassical music scene - blending classical composition, improvisation and ambient electronics at the piano.
Their meditative, beautiful music has wide appeal, often played in deeply personal moments from childbirth to death.
Mr Howard is a thrice Australian Music Prize nominated pianist/composer who has been streamed more than 50 million times across the world.
He has toured extensively across Europe, received an AGSC Screen Music Award, and collaborated with choreographers and theatre makers such as ‘Birmingham Royal Ballet’ and ‘Back to Back Theatre’.
Ms Bartsch releases music for both ‘ABC Classic’ and ‘ABC Jazz’, and was the first female instrumental artist to be nominated in both jazz and classical ARIA categories.
She is most well known for her lullaby album, ‘Forever, and No Time At All’, which many parents enjoy with their children, and released her critically acclaimed album ‘Hope’ in 2021 which responds to the Black Summer bushfires and Covid-19 lockdowns.
‘Peaceful Piano’ will see both Mr Howard and Ms Bartsch play a solo set, before uniting as a duo to end the concert.
The performance will start at 7.30pm on June 25, with more information such as ticket prices and performance details available at tickets.hamiltonpac.com.au/event.
