LIONS Club members and their helpers were at Fox and Lillie’s in great numbers for the Saturday morning Kelpie Weekend Poets’ Breakfast.
Again, this early Barbeque was enjoyed by an appreciative audience.
Frank McInerney was a capable Master of Ceremonies and his leadership and encouragement found us a number of ‘walk-up poets’ from the audience.
Walk-up poets are a great feature of our Poets’ Breakfast.
After the breakfast, Lions Club members provided a traditional barbeque lunch for the many patrons of this local major event.
The Casterton Golf Club on Thursday, 16 June was the venue for the annual changeover dinner for the Lions Club of Casterton.
Thirty-three Lions, Lions Ladies and guests enjoyed a wonderful Roast meal and dessert provide by the ladies committee.
It was very pleasing to note the presence of eight Merino Lions and representatives from Casterton Rotary and the Casterton Fire Brigade on our guest list.
Installation officer was Casterton Lions’ Melvin Jones Award Winner, Norm Russell.
Office Bearers installed for 2021-22 were president, Monica Egger, secretary, Sandra Smolders, treasurer, John Donegan, membership, Barry Richardson, Lion Tamer, Graham Smith and Tail Twister, Lin Cookson.
The Ian Sims Memorial Trophy was presented by Helen Sims to Lion Lana Smith for her outstanding contributions to Lions during the 2021-22 Lions Year.
Outgoing president, Barry Richardson, thanked Lions members for their contributions to the club during the year completed.
Incoming president, Monica Egger, looked forward to another year of Lions Service to the local community.
In recent weeks, the Lions Club has assisted with the football club gates, the racing club gates and the Field and Game shoot out at Myaring.
We look forward continued support of patrons at the Glenelg Inn raffle every Friday Night.
