WANNON Court and Valley View have received a generous donation of more than $10,000 from the Coleraine Hospital Ladies Auxiliary to help support their aged care residents.
The Auxiliary’s $10,485 donation has been used to purchase bed assist monitors, chair pads, and pressure cushions, which are all vital pieces of equipment that will aid in the comfort and safety of the aged care residents at the facility.
Auxiliary president, Heather Watt, said the funds were raised over time from various endeavours, including social evenings and garden tours.
“We are a small but active group who enjoy the social aspect of getting together and raising funds for our local hospital,” she said.
“The hospital here is a fantastic asset for Coleraine and a wonderful facility.”
Members of the Auxiliary have a strong connection to the hospital, with many of them having had family either working there or using the services.
Western District Health Service (WDHS) director of aged care services in Coleraine and Penshurst, Bronwyn Roberts, said the Ladies Auxiliary was a highly valued part of the Health Service.
“The Auxiliary has been active for many years contributing to the improvement of the facility, and they have consistently assisted with the purchase of equipment to aid the care of our aged care residents and patients,” she said.
“We are extremely grateful for their hard work, which is all done voluntarily.
“It is lovely to see them back together socialising, enjoying each other’s company, and planning new endeavours to help our community.”
