Record Monivae ‘Tinnies for Vinnies’ donation

A NEW record has been set by Monivae College students, after they collected 2635 cans throughout Term 2 to donate to the annual ‘Tinnies for Vinnies’ campaign.

Each year the school collects non-perishable canned goods to donate to St Vincent de Paul Society, who then distribute the items to those experiencing hardship within our community.

This year the students stepped up to the challenge in the most commendable way, ending the term on a high note as they collected more than double the efforts of previous years.

Monivae College principal, Jonathan Rowe, said the outstanding efforts of all students involved in the campaign highlighted the passion the students have for helping those who are less fortunate or who need a helping hand.

“It’s a demonstration of our students understanding the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) ethos we instil here at Monivae, where compassion and kindness are actively shown by supporting those in need,” he said.

“This initiative is led by our senior students and supported by our Director of Faith and Mission, Mr Danny Franc.

“To see basket after basket of cans being delivered by Monivae families shows a spirit of generosity that is really heart-warming.”
