PREPARATIONS are gearing up at the Hadden Theatre for Hamilton’s Dramus Theatre end of year production, with member Caleb Fitzpatrick assigned as director.
Mr Fitzpatrick has a large cast in mind with around 15 roles requiring actors of all ages to audition for its forthcoming pantomime, “May the Farce Be With You’.
The Dramus Theatre’s long term group member, Katrina Arnel, said “we are so excited to announce Caleb Fitz as our end-of-year director”.
“He has had fantastic success in the past putting on Dramus’ family friendly, hilariously goofy pantomimes,” she said.
Mr Fitzpatrick studied drama at school and joined Hamilton’s Dramus Theatre after seeing their Facebook page around six years ago.
“His first production at the Hadden Theatre was ‘Billy Liar’ and then he did a pantomime and that was when he decided he wanted to direct pantomimes specifically,” Ms Arnel said.
“‘May The Farce Be With You’ is a mash up of ‘Jack and The Bean Stalk’ and ‘Star Wars’ and consists of both male and female roles that are interchangeable.
“This will definitely be a kids-friendly production to get them more involved.
“We are aiming to host the production in the last week of November, early December.”
Ms Arnel has been a member for around 15 years and said she gets a lot of enjoyment out of it.
“It’s like my second family,” she said.
Hamilton’s Dramus Theatre generally produces two to three major productions at the Hadden Theatre each year, entertaining the community with musicals, drama, action and comedy.
Auditions will be held at 7pm on July 27 at the Hadden Theatre, on the corner of Brown and Station Streets in Hamilton.
