Council’s Family Day Care option

SOUTHERN Grampians Shire Council (SGSC) Family Day Care offers an approved form of education and care, provided in the family day care educator’s own home.

The local day care provider recruits, trains, guides and supports educators to ensure the best education and care experience for local families and their child(ren) in a nurturing home environment, for babies and children up to 12 years old.

It offers a unique educational experience that is tailored to the individual child and is provided within a friendly home environment.

SGSC educators all have (or are working towards) approved early childhood education and care qualifications and operate under the National Quality Framework, incorporating national regulations, quality standards, and approved learning frameworks with an assessment and ratings process.

Each home is unique, providing a warm and caring space where children are supported to grow, learn, and develop at their own pace.

Small group environments encourage the development of strong bonds, promoting effective early learning and social development.

SGSC Family Day Care understands that when it comes to finding the best fit for a child, not all educators or families are the same and acknowledges and celebrates the diverse range of language, culture, abilities and lifestyle of each educator, child, and their respective family.

A Qualified Coordination Unit considers each family’s unique needs when matching a child with a compatible educator.

Parents are given the opportunity to take a tour and meet with one or more educators to make an informed choice.

Educators currently have an opportunity if eligible, to apply for a scholarship to complete either their Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, through the local WDEA Works Training – a Registered Training Organisation.
