AUSSIE folk singer Todd Cook will be launching some new music today as part of a tour “at small regional halls around Victoria”.
Backed by The Rufous Whistlers, named after a bird native to East Gippsland but found all over the mainland, he started his tour recently at Bruthen, near Lakes Entrance.
‘Todd Cook & The Rufous Whistlers’ will be his fifth original studio release and he hasn’t played in western Victoria since supporting the Black Cockatoo ensemble performance at Harrow earlier in the year.
His previous release in 2018, The Silent Boat, was inspired by the 150th anniversary of the famous Harrow indigenous cricket players who were the first English tour by an Australian team in 1868.
Todd’s unique story-telling and emotive lyrics are supported by a solid foundation of harmony and rhythm, built on friendship during hard times.
These songs and performances promote hope, regrowth and unison of communities.
Todd can be heard playing at the Pigeon Ponds Hall today with doors opening at 7.30pm – price is $20 and $10 for students with younger children free.
His music can be previewed at toddcook.bandcamp.com and his website is toddcook.com.au
