Hannah adds to accolades

HANNAH Munro has another medal to her name after a successful campaign in Darwin in the Northern Territory ISSF Skeet Championships.

Hannah took second place in a small, combined field of competitors in the weekend and relished the achievement.

“I am quite proud – it’s a bit of a growing collection,” she said.

“I like having a few sparkling medals on my wall.”

Despite a slow start, she soon picked up her tempo and took out her semi final with 18 out of 30 before she finished the medal match with 26 out of 40.

The competition was predominantly a neck-and-neck affair between Hannah and fellow Mount Gambier Gun Club member, Doyle Yoannidis, who went on to claim first place in the mixed event.

They both blitzed ahead of the Top End’s local shooters, scored the same in the semi finals and finished four points apart in the medal match.

“It was very close – we were having a bit of a friendly banter,” Hannah said.

She also welcomed the tropical conditions in the Top End, where temperatures shot past 30 degrees over the weekend.

“I think I dealt pretty well in the hot weather … I’m enjoying Darwin,” she said.

Hannah’s next challenge – and her last for the year – will be in Mildura in November, to cap off a year which has seen her consistently finish strong in the likes of Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
