THE weather wasn't always kind, but that did not stop some dedicated marketers and shoppers from setting up a stand and grabbing some bargains at the Old Scots Uniting Church Market.
Desperately in need of repairs, the long-standing historical icon is slowly crumbling and in the first of a number of measures planned to raise funds for its restoration, the church's grounds were converted into a market site, with everything from fishing gear to babies' blankets on offer.
The church, which turned 114 years old in October and has seen countless locals enter and depart the world, still boasts a small, but dedicated regular attendance - those members are looking to raise at least $10,000, to ensure the local landmark is still around for the next 100 years.
With donations and stall fees, the weekend's event raised just-shy of $370 and the church's Jean Dunstan said organisers were pleased with the first effort.
"A thank you to everyone who held stalls, helped out on the day and came along to purchase somthing; the support is really appreciated," she said.
Ideas for more fundraisers and hands to make them happen are welcome.
