Nanna Nola’s Oldtime Recipe Of The Week - Kris Krinkles

Meggs, a work colleague’s mum, makes these yummy, colourful biscuits every Christmas. But I think she also has them all year round in her pantry as a special treat to have with a cuppa. Thank you Meggs.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla or rum essence
2½ cups of flour
¾ cup red and green glace cherries
½ cup pecan nuts, finely chopped
¾ cup flaked coconut
METHOD
In a bowl cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla or rum essence, then stir in the flour, glace cherries and pecan nuts.
Form into 2 x 5cm diameter logs then roll in flaked coconut. Wrap and chill for several hours or overnight.
Cut into 6mm slices. Place on baking tray and bake at 190°C / 375F for 12 to 15 minutes or until edges are golden
