AFTER a very successful garage sale during Anti-Poverty Week, which raised money to support their two Learning for Life students, VIEW (Voice, Interests and Education of Women) members also collected groceries to donate to the Uniting Church food distribution program.
VIEW president, Sue Habel, and member, Denise Read, met with food distribution program coordinator, Carolyn Coate, and lead volunteer, Roger Thompson, to deliver the much-needed groceries.
Ms Coate thanked the club and said that the program delivers over 100 boxes each week and is running short of many items to keep up with the current demand.
To continue to keep the food assistance program manageable, they are also looking for new volunteers to assist in preparation and delivery.
The Hamilton VIEW Club commenced 22 years ago and is a national women’s organisation with more than 15,000 members who exclusively support The Smith Family
VIEW clubs sponsor students, and members volunteer, fundraise and advocate to improve the life outcomes of disadvantaged Australian children and young people through The Smith Family Learning for Life program.
The Hamilton club of 33 women meet each month for a lunch meeting at a local café and for a morning/afternoon tea at other venues and buy locally for raffles, prizes, and gifts.
It too welcomes interest from new members to become part of this organisation and contact can be made to hamiltonviewclubvc03@gmail.com
