A remarkable family and community man

SAD but proud moment ... the family of Darren Knape gathers around one of his other great loves - his 2020 Harley Davidson CVO. The bike's intricate artwork features his music idol, Kiss, the Christian names of his wife, children and grandchildren, as well as a Pink Ribbon - in honour of wife Marion's successful fight against breast cancer - and a Purple Ribbon, signifying his own fight with the insidious disease. FAMILY, friends and fellow firefighters are remembering a well-known local who was “always happy to lend a hand”, even in the most trying of times.

Darren Knape, who served more than 20 years with the Coleraine and Muntham rural fire brigades, passed away earlier this month with cancer at the age of 53.
