We’ve got staff shortages, but qualified women can’t return to the workforce

GLENELG Shire Council will plead with the state government to relax rules for the early childhood sector in the region as desperate mothers are unable to fully return to the workforce.

Councillors last week unanimously agreed to write to Early Childhood and Pre-Prep Minister Ingrid Stitt to ask her to urgently address the significant skills shortage of qualified early childhood educators and teachers in the shire, as well as telling her about the challenges concerning the ability of the council to provide the services.
