THE new-look Mouth 2 Mouth event on Sunday attracted plenty of people to its beach walk from the Fitzroy River Mouth and kids colour run, raising money for lifesaving on Narrawong beach.
Mouth2Mouth chairwoman Kathy Taylor said that with the temperature exceeding 30C the hot weather might have kept some people away, but they are pleased with how the day went regardless and were able to raise over $3,000.
“It was probably too hot for us really, but it did go really well” Ms Taylor said.
“We had a full bus of walkers who were doing the 14km from the Fitzroy, which seats 46 people, and it was probably a similar number doing the 7km from Narrawong.”
“The colour run was really great too, there were 60 plus kids who got into that, and they had a big water fight before that which looked like a lot of fun.”
Even though the competitive run along the beach was dropped from the program, Ms Taylor said a few people took on the challenge anyway, despite the heat.
She thanked the community for their support and donations, with money raised to help covering costs to have a patrol on the beach over summer, and running the nippers program and supporting the event for next year.
