‘Lego’ and relax with some creativity

AS the Tyrendarra Show approaches, locals are putting together their creative pieces of all sorts for the show’s variety of competition sections.

Plenty are preparing their best flowers, animals and creative work for February 11, when the Tyrendarra show will kick of once more for its 105th year.

There is a show section for everyone, with many competitions divided into age classes.

One section, especially appealing to children, is the Lego building competition, with classes of eight-years-old or under, nine to 12-years-old and open to all ages above 12.

Buildings must be no larger than 30 centimetre square and it is a 50-cent entry fee, with a chance to win $1 for second place and $2 for first place.

There will be an extra special Lego prize for the overall most creative exhibit on display.

Lego stewardess Nikki Spencer said she was particularly keen to see original designs in the competition.

“We’d like them to come up with their own ideas,” she said.

“Even if they did a little bit of what the packet says, as long as they come up with something else around it that is their own creative idea.

“Hopefully, after being shut down and everything previously, we can start getting back into the swing of things.

“I'm hoping to get a fairly good turnout of Lego.”

Participants can bring their creations to the grounds the day before or the early morning of, along with their entry fee.

The section will be located on the show pavilion close to the poultry section, sharing a shed with the other colourful competitions such as the floral art, cut flowers, and craft work.

“They can come up with their own little descriptive stories if they’d like of what they've done,” Ms Spencer said.

“They're really entertaining to read.

“I just hope we get a lot more entries and things come along.”

Designs must be presented on a flat board that’s able to be moved.
