THE outstanding work of locals and community organisations was recognised in the annual Australia Day award ceremony held at the Hamilton Botanic Gardens on Thursday, putting a spotlight on their dedication and selflessness.
The official proceedings began with a performance by local singer Caetline Martin, followed by an opening speech by Southern Grampians Shire Council (SGSC) chief executive, Tony Doyle, where he acknowledged the traditional owners of the land and what the day means for them.
