Look out, the mowing’s done

THE lookout at Mt Baimbridge got a spruce up earlier this week as the Southern Grampians Shire sent a team to the site to do some much-needed mowing and clearing.

Local resident, Paul Battista, had posted a video of the area on social media about its untidy condition on January 7 and said, “this iconic lookout area is in need of some TLC” and asked the Council to act.

After the work was finished on Tuesday, Mr Battista said he was “happy the council had obviously heard what I had to say” but believed “there was still work to be done”.

“It is an iconic lookout,” he said.

“It’s close to town. I believe a lot of tourists would use it if it was in a reasonable condition.

“We’ve lost a picnic table up there, lost a fireplace – maybe they could put a barbeque up there.

“From up there, you can basically see the whole Shire. It’s a terrific asset that we have.”
