Having started out as a St John cadet at just 12 years old, there is not much of Tony Oxford’s life where he has not been at the ready to rush off to help with a medical emergency.

Mr Oxford now lives in Portland and works at ambulance Victoria as the region’s emergency management planning coordinator, and is this year celebrating four decades working as a paramedic.
