HEYWOOD Rural Health (HRH) now has two new additions to their team, two Ragdoll cats.
The hospital adopted Benji and Marley after their previous owner, an elderly member of the community, said they could no longer care for them.
They are mature and have been raised on a farm, making the outdoors a common spot to find them, if not running around the halls of the aged care facility.
Residents and families were first consulted about the companion cats, who interact with the residents daily and are always available for a cuddle.
Those who are okay with the cats entering their rooms have a sign stating ‘cat friendly’ on their door, and for those that aren’t, a sign is not seen.
Other plans will be in place to prevent the cats from troubling residents who don’t want to interact.
The two have only just settled in and can, at times, be seen wondering around the front reception or waiting room.
