STAFF and students from Monivae College have raised $8018 for the Leukaemia Foundation through the World’s Greatest Shave.
Last Thursday, 18 staff and students in total had their hair cut or shaved to raise awareness and money for the worthwhile cause.
Monivae year 12 student, Abbey Hill, said she raised $1106 altogether, which she felt was an amazing effort.
“I was very nervous, but once I had cut my hair it felt great, and a lot lighter! I’d like to thank everyone who donated, and everyone who also participated,” she said.
“To anyone thinking of also doing the World’s Greatest Shave, just do it! It’s the least we can do to help those with cancer.”
Monivae Mitchell house captain, Fraser Hill, raised $490 in total and said he felt great afterwards now that he didn’t have to worry about his hair, although it was a little bit itchy.
“I would like to thank my family for the contribution and a few of my mates,” he said.
“I recommend doing the shave as it promotes a good cause for blood cancer and Monivae raised a whopping $8000.”
